Just finished reading Torment - a Fallen Novel by Lauren Kate two hours ago. Where Fallen leaves off and Torment begins you are immediately sucked in. It took me four days over the long Thanksgiving holiday weekend to read this book but only because of my family life. I yearned for this book every waking second ... just longing for the next free minute I would have to pick it up and dive right back in.
Lauren Kate's character development is quick and you just love all of her characters, you become immediately invested in the outcome of their lives and where their story is going as it pertains to Daniel and Luce as well as stand alone. She could easily make a book out every single one of her characters and make you want to read it. Miles and Shelby are two of the new characters we get introduced to Torment and you just feel for them, their story, their new friendship with Luce. They want to help her or protect her, whatever they have to do. They become a sort of team when Luce feels completely isolated and babied by Daniel.
Luce and Daniel's story is exhilarating and severely frustrating (dare I say, tormenting ...) throughout this entire book. I was literally shaking my head every single time they have a hasty argument. I just wanted to reach into the book and shake them both senseless but that's just a testament to how wrapped up in their story you become.
This was a gripping and beautiful book from start to finish and I'm already 100 pages into Passion the next book in the series.

Fallen by Lauren Kate
I decided to stay in and finish Fallen by Lauren Kate this evening instead of going to see The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn for the third time. It was a very good use of the evening and I'll start the second book in the Fallen Series, Torment, shortly.
I started Fallen on Sunday and was immediately sucked in. I actually hadn't really read what this series was about, I just saw it sitting on the Teen Paranormal Romance shelf at Barnes and Noble and thought, hey what the heck, let's give this a shot. The book follows the life of Luce Price and her life as a new girl starting out in a reform school called Sword & Cross. At the school she makes several friends who take her under their wing and show her the ropes of coping with day to day life in this creepy school. She also encounters Daniel Grigori **SPOILER incoming**, a Fallen Angel, who has been falling in love with Luce throughout history. Every 17 years he meets her and she has no idea who he is but senses that she knows him from somewhere. He is of course the brooding and irresistibly attractive guy she can't seem to stay away from (much like Edward in the Twilight Saga). He's self loathing and of course tries to keep her at arms length so she won't figure anything out about him.
Lauren Kate has great character development and writes a wonderful story for you to fall in love with. I highly recommend this book to anyone who reads YA Novels.

Welcome to my blog!
I'm 29 years old and I've honestly never blogged before in my life. I read a lot of blogs but never decided to create one until now. So why start now? Well I decided I needed an outlet to talk about the books I have read or am currently reading.
My reading days were few and far between when I was younger. Ask my Dad, he used to push me to read and let's face it, that's probably why I hated the idea so much. Nobody wants to be pushed to do anything when they are younger. So I rebelled against the idea. Years later he was shocked to find out that I'd actually read all but the last two Harry Potter books.
I went on vacation with my husband and his immediate family to Lake Powell in 2008. It was on this vacation that his sisters decided I should give Twilight a shot. I had heard of these books and even seen the trailer for the movie in front of Batman Begins in July 2008. I rolled my eyes at the thought of another teen vampire type movie. But there I was, setting out on the 7 hour car ride down to Knabe, UT with Twilight in my hands. I opened the book and was probably two pages in when the book took a hold of me and didn't let go for an entire week. I read the entire series while we were on vacation. Ask my husband now, he felt I was anti-social but I still did plenty of family activities while we were there.
It took a few years after reading The Twilight Saga to get into reading more books. I have since read The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, City of Ash, City of Glass and City of Fallen Angels; The Hunger Games; The Infernal Devices: Clockwork Angel; The Caster Chronicles: Beautiful Creatures, Beautiful Darkness and Beautiful Chaos. I am currently reading the Fallen series by Lauren Kate. I'll do a post on this and the rest of these shortly!
